Tamil Nadu builds India's first marine export SEZ

India aims to generate ₹32,000 crore in annual exports and 1.5 lakh new jobs as Tamil Nadu builds India’s first marine export SEZ. Furthermore, the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) is leading the work. Moreover, they have taken more than 2,500 acres of land that had once been used to dry ocean water into salt (salt pans). Most importantly, the facility will provide employment for 1.4 lakh to 1.8 lakh people in Tamil Nadu. By housing feed mills, fish hatcheries, and cold storage in one area, businesses can cut down on transportation costs and food spoilage.

India’s First Dedicated Marine Export SEZ

Five integrated seafood processing and logistics hubs are set up in Tamil Nadu as India’s first dedicated marine export SEZ. Furthermore, the five zones will be built across 2,500 acres of unused salt pans in the Tiruvallur, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, and Ramanathapuram districts. After this, the new SEZ clusters will place Hatcheries, feed makers, and packing centres right next to each other.
