Mulapeta Port in Srikakulam Nears Launch
The government of Andhra Pradesh has approved ₹440 crore for the Phase II land acquisition (1,903 acres) of Mulapeta Port in Srikakulam Nears Launch.
In addition, Phase I is 75% complete. Moreover, the port will feature four berths (three general cargo, one coal) and handle 23.5 million tonnes annually.
Furthermore, the aim is to boost port-led growth, enhance maritime capacity, and support coastal industries.
Phase I is over 80% complete, with commercial operations targeted for late 2026.
On top of this, crucial road and rail links to National Highway-16 are in progress.
Mulapeta Port’s Road-Rail connectivity
A 12.85 km road links the port to NH-16 at Tekkali. In addition, a 7.8 km rail line connects to Dandugopalapuram Halt for Mulapeta Port’s Road-Rail connectivity. Additionally, around 88.70 acres have been designated to accommodate road and rail last-mile connectivity corridors.
On top of this, a 200 km Greenfield National Highway connects the port to the Bhogapuram International Airport.
This facilitates smoother freight and passenger transport across the Uttarandhra region.
Most importantly, the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has approved the transfer of 385 acres of Naupada salt lands to the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board.
