The Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) is a wing of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Indian Government. Products with transceivers, transmitters, receivers, Bluetooth, wireless, radio frequency identification tags and readers, etc., imported into India must have an (ETA) Equipment Type Approval certificate from the WPC. In compliance with Wireless Planning and Coordination communication standards, it is mandatory for anyone who sells, manufactures, or imports wireless equipment to obtain a WPC ETA certificate.
Generally, approval is based on the examination of radio frequency (RF) test reports and approval certificates. Radio devices operating in licensed frequency bands require a separate set of licenses.
