The Export Promotion Capital Goods Plan (EPCG) allows for the importation of capital goods with a reduced duty rate, subject to the fulfilment of time-bound export obligations.
Forms and Certificates for Import
In order to ensure payment for the import, all importers must accompany a copy of the L/C. The outflow of foreign exchange is normally counter-checked with the issuing bank. The following documents are generally required if a Bill of Entry is not filed through the Electronic Data Interchange system: The signed invoice; the packing list; the bill of lading or delivery order/air waybill; the GATT declaration form; the importer/CHA declaration; the import license, if needed; the letter of credit/bank draft; the insurance document; the industrial license, if needed; Chemical test report; Adhoc exemption order; DEEC book/DEPB original, wherever applicable; Catalogues, technical reports, literature, etc., if applicable for machinery, spares, chemicals, etc.; Separate the value of spares, components, and machinery; and, a Certificate of Origin if preferential duty is claimed.
